WHAT IS HYDRODIPPING AND HOW ITS DONE
Hydro dipping (also known as immersion printing, water transfer printing and hydro imaging ) is a unique process that allows you to apply graphics to almost any three-dimensional object. This process has been used for years in the auto industry along with many other fields. Other items like firearms, helmets, gaming controllers & household items, are widely decorated with hydro films these days. There are many different materials the film can be applied on such as plastic, metal, wood, glass and more.
the '7' steps of hydro dipping
1 - Sanding, scuffing and applying a primer
2 - Base coating with any automotive base coat imaginable
3 - PVA Film, set on to the luke warm tank water
4 - Activator, applied to the glassed-out PVA film, liquefies the films ink for dipping
5 - Dipping of the item, this is the really skilled part of the entire process, which is done with extreme finesse
6 - Rinsing of the now dipped item to remove the residue from steps 3 to 5
7 - Clear coating, is now applied with automotive 2K paint. Candy, Pearl, Matte and Gloss finishes are available
